Phil Bullard, drummer for the metal band Black Death, died on February 6 from colon cancer. Many sites are crediting Black Death (formed in 1977) with being the first all-black metal group. We confess to not having ever heard them and thus felt compelled (shamed?) to search out some sample tunes. Here is the best page for a free, non-illegal MP3; scroll about three-quarters down. And if that’s the sort of tune that gets your sticks all hard, you’ll be raging to know that Auburn Records is releasing a deluxe version of Black Death’s eponymous 1984 album.

this is a great photo
A priceless photo!
First met Phil in about 1976; a beautiful and sensitive human being. I had lost contact in ’05 and did not know about his condition or death. I was glad to know he had fully returned to his “Passion”. Although i was not around him much in latter years, i could call him and we were right back in the present. Knowing he is not here, I will think of him often, and pray for him because he was truly a beautiful, loving person. Love u Phil.
