Travis Barker in Complete VMA Videos
September 24, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Because we’re all still reeling from the Travis Barker news, MTV has kindly posted the full-length videos of Trav and DJ AM performing at this year’s VMA show. The duo played with Katy Perry, Lupe Fiasco, The Ting Tings, Kid Cudi, and (our sticks-down favorite) LL Cool J. Check out their version of “Going Back to Cali”:

Whoops! You’ve found a post that was apparently incorrect. We’re waiting for the big Z to send us revised info. Until then, why don’t you have a gander at some drumming videos.

Winners of DRUM! Magazine Readers Poll 2008
July 1, 2008 | 38 Comments
DRUM! Magazine unleashed its 2008 readers poll awards today. No big Drummie! surprises here: Neil Peart still reigns as everyone’s favorite living drum god, Travis Barker is apparently the best punk drummer on the planet (but only when Tré Cool and Green Day haven’t released an album), and Chad Smith is the youngsters’ funkster of choice. Let the verbal fisticuffs begin.
Word of warning: under each category, the name presented in caps is the official winner; all the subsequent names under a category are considered by DRUM! to be “runners-up,” not necessarily “second,” “third,” “or “fourth” place winners. Why? We haven’t a clue…

Jimmy Chamberlin Will Get His Hands Dirty…
April 14, 2008 | Leave a Comment
But it’s for an awesome reason: The Smashing Pumpkins are going to be inducted into Hollywood’s RockWalk. Chamberlin and Billy Corgan will be on hand April 23, 2008, to stick their hands in cement outside the Guitar Center on Sunset. They’ll then perform for the lucky bastards who get inside the store. We’re trying to be one of those lucky bastards, but no one is returning our emails. And we even pretended to be from Modern Drummer. Might just have to settle for these:

It doesn’t look like MD has officially released the winning names yet, but since Sonor already posted them on its site, we’re just going to play follow the leader. Taylor Hawkins Has a Grammy
February 10, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Congrats to Hawkins and the other Foos for picking up a Grammy tonight. Their CD Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace won for Best Rock Album, beating out discs by Daughtry (shock), Bruce Springsteen (surprise), John Fogarty (…is he still alive?), and Wilco.
Poogie Bell’s Grammy Nod
February 8, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Poogie played on Angelique Kidjo’s latest record, Djin Djin, which is up for a Grammy this Sunday. But will he be going to the award show? Probably not:
Getting the invitation is not that hard, but everything that goes with it, the parties—it’s a rich guy’s sport. I just play drums.
