The one thing great thing to come of the whole Sorum/Weiland silliness is that a reformed Stone Temple Pilots, including drummer Eric Kretz (nota bene, Spin), will be hitting the road this summer. A little YouTube reminder of why you should be defecating in your drawers with excitement:

The world has just hopscotched a bit on its axis: Warrant and Cinderella are hooking up for a tour this summer. As far as we know, original drummers Steven Sweet and Fred Coury, respectively, are manning the thrones.

The Black Crowes’ new album might be pretty mediocre (or at least the four songs that Maxim heard were), but the band has always been a great live act. Long-time drummer Steve Gorman will be throning up again for the tour that starts this Sunday.

Sevendust’s new album is scheduled to drop on April 1 (…unless that’s just a Fool’s joke…), and Rose and the rest of the ‘Dust dudes will be hitting U.S. roads soon after on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour. Rose has chatted a bit about the tour with Blabbermouth.

MTV Asia is reporting that Stone Temple Pilots—including singer Scott Weiland and drummer Eric Kretz—are getting close to finalizing a one-off tour this summer. Weiland, of course, is dick deep with Velvet Revolver at the moment, so we’re not sure how this is going to work out…but we’ve got our sticks crossed to see Kretz play live again.

Until then:

Yet. And the brothers Van Halen (count ‘em three strong now–Alex, Eddie, and Wolfgang) seem to be getting along well enough with Roth to extend their tour into 2008.

Somewhere in hell there’s a snowball laughing.

[update]: Here is Rolling Stone’s review of Van Halen’s Madison Square Garden gig. Par for the bloody fucking course, not a thing is said about Alex’s playing.
